3 days Mount Meru hiking itinerary;
Day 1: From Arusha Momela Gate to Miriakampa Hut;
Day 2: Miriakampa Hut to Saddle Hut, afternoon hike up little Meru;
Day 3: Hike to the summit, then return to Arusha.
After breakfast, depart from Arusha or Moshi and drive to Momella Gate. Begin your 3 days and 2 nights of trekking on Mount Meru with a picnic lunch at the first hut, called Miriakamba hut. Dinner and overnight at the Miriakamba hut.
After breakfast, we hike from Miriakampa Hut to Saddle Hut. In the afternoon, you can make the short climb to the nearby summit of Little Meru for superb views just before sunset. Dinner and an overnight stay at Saddle Hut are planned.
Summit day has an early start at around 12:00 a.m. There is a 1-hour steep climb to Rhino Point, then the path continues along a ridge of ash and rock to reach Cobra Point. Brunch and a brief rest are taken at Saddle Hut before continuing the descent to Miriakampa Hut and then to Arusha.
